Abilene is located in West Central Texas, 183 miles west of Dallas. Abilene is home to 112,000+ citizens and Dyess AFB, Home of the B-1 Bomber and C-130 transport planes. Abilene is at the hub of the Texas Midwest Network and a diversified economy, which includes manufacturing, retail trade, farming and ranching, medical care, and petroleum.

Historical Sites

The Texas and Pacific Railroad Depot located at 1101 N.1st Street, is one of Abilene's most outstanding landmarks. Built in 1910 it provided passenger service until 1967. In 1994 it was restored to its 1920's appearance to serve as home of Abilene's Convention and Visitor's Bureau, Cultural Affairs Council and Visitor Information Center.
